INTERIOR PAINTING – TYPE OF PAINT AND COLOR

First, you will need to choose the type of paint. There are two main types of paint: oil-based and water-based. Water-based paint is the most common type and is easier to clean up. Oil-based paint is more durable and can be used for high-traffic areas. Shoot us a text if you have a question on this

Also there are many different Sheens, and grades or material for interior paint. We use Sherwin Willams as our rep and they have been great for over 10 years. Emerald, duration, super paint, pro mar. You can do more research below or text me any time

Next, you will need to decide on a color. You may want to consider the type of mood you want to create in the room. For example, light colors can make a room feel airy and spacious, while dark colors can make a room feel cozy and intimate.

Interior Painting at its finest

Once you have chosen the paint and color, it is time to prepare the surface. You will need to sand the walls and remove any old paint or wallpaper. If you are painting over a dark color, you may want to primer the walls first.

This will allow the new or updated color or surface to adhere correctly and works much better for longevity to avoid any future peeling or flaking paint from underneath.

INTERIOR PAINTING TIME

Now it is time to start painting! Begin by cutting in around the edges of the room with a brush. Then, fill in the rest of the wall with a roller. Be sure to use even strokes and paint in the same direction. “always keep a wet edge” meaning when you are cutting and rolling trying to paint wet to wet

Don’t let your cut lines dry before you apply the roller, this is more important when using satin finishes. check out our post below about different interior painting finishes and how that can help your decision.

CLEANING UP

Once you have finished painting, you will need to clean up. If you are using water-based paint, simply wash the brushes and rollers with soap and water. If you are using oil-based paint, you will need to use mineral spirits to clean the brushes and rollers.

Painting equipment isn’t necessarily cheap but if you take good care of you it you can use it many many times. As a business owner and someone who holds the brush a lot, I have a few “old faithfuls”

Now that you know the steps, interior painting will be a breeze! Just remember to take your time and enjoy the process. After all, it is your home and you should love the way it looks! If you need any help along the way, our team of professional painters would be happy to assist you.
